Local History :

NAPMW East Bay was chartered in December of 1984, and originally held their meetings in Castro Valley. We now meet in San Ramon on the first Wednesday of each month, starting at 6:00 pm. Our members include a mix of Processors, Underwriters, Shippers, Funders, Loan Officers, Account Executives, and Managers. We meet monthly to network, and keep abreast of changes and new developments in the mortgage industry. Our speakers have included Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, mortgage insurance companies, appraisers, inspectors, The Department of Real Estate Commissioner, and sales & marketing experts. We also hold seminars on a variety of topics.

National History :

On February 12, 1964, nine women with 161 years of combined experience in various fields of mortgage banking met in Seattle, Washington to consider the need for an organization to promote women in the mortgage lending professions. On April 22, 1964, the first association, to be known as the Seattle Association of Professional Mortgage Women, was officially formed. Other areas began to show interest in a similar organization. In February of 1967, the National Association of Professional Mortgage Women was chartered for the purpose of organizing Local Associations throughout the United States. Today, the Association is composed of approximately 4,000 members in over 80 Local Associations.

The charter members were interested in forming an Association that was committed to several important purposes.

NAPMW’s Purpose:

  • To promote and foster educational opportunities for its members
  • To maintain the high standards of the profession
  • To work for equal recognition and opportunities for women & men
  • To bring together its members for the exchange of experiences, ideas, and interests in all phases of mortgage banking on the Local, Region and National levels.
  • To encourage both women and men to choose the mortgage banking profession as a career

    DON’T BE AFRAID TO FAIL
You’ve failed many times, although you might not remember.
You fell down the first time you tried to walk.
You almost drowned the first time you tried to swim,
    didn’t you?
Did you hit the ball the first time you swung a bat?
Heavy hitters, the ones who hit the most home runs,
    also strike out a lot.
R.H. Macy failed seven time before his store in New York
    caught on.
English novelist John Creasey got 753 rejection slips
    Before he published 564 books.
Babe Ruth struck out 1,330 times but he also hit 714
    home runs.
    Don’t worry about Failure.
Worry about the chances you miss when you don’t
    even try…………..
